Bridal Market Wrap-Up! Plus, This Weekend's Romona Keveza Trunk Show
Few things could top a weekend trip to New York City in the spring, unless of course you're there to attend Bridal Market. It was a whirlwind trip, but we certainly made the most of the three-day event to bring you, our Chic brides, the latest bridal styles from top designers from around the world, including Jenny Packham, Mira Zwillinger, Anne Barge, Ines Di Santo, Romona Keveza, Naeem Khan, Marchesa, Monique Lhuillier and Lazaro.
Our action-packed schedule was a dazzling display of crystals, pearls, tulle, and lace. The runways were nearly as gorgeous as the gowns themselves, as many featured creative themes including Enchanted Forest (Naeem Khan) and Once Upon a Dream (Jenny Packham). There were many jaw-dropping moments, and we can't wait to bring the very best of these Spring 2015 designs to Chic Parisien.

Speaking of special events, this weekend Chic Parisien is hosting a Romona Keveza trunk show, featuring the designer's famed Legends Collection. February Ends On High Note with Jenny Packham Trunk Show (February 28 & March 1)
Noted for her fun, flirty and vintage-inspired wedding gowns, Jenny Packham celebrated her 25th anniversary in 2013 and this year, she certainly shows no signs of stopping.

Her 2014 Bridal Collection is nothing short of breathtaking and this Friday and Saturday, we are excited to welcome the latest collection in-store and share it with our favorite brides.

Celebrating An Epic Romance in the Heart of Coral Gables
On Sunday, February 9, four lovely “brides” joined Catherine Fox Milian of Chic Parisien to celebrate the 1916 union of George Merrick and Eunice Peacock at the Merrick House & Gardens in Coral Gables.
George Merrick, considered the “father of Coral Gables,” met his future bride, Eunice Isabella Peacock, the daughter of Coconut Grove pioneers, nearly a century ago in Miami and subsequently built her a home in the area – the now famous Merrick House & Gardens museum.
In celebration of their marriage, which took place on February 5, 1916, the museum hosted a special event this past Sunday. The event was free and open to the public.
The day was filled with fun, wedding-inspired activities, from cake decorating and calligraphy to paper bouquet crafting and lace making demonstrations. Guests also enjoyed an antique wedding dress display, light refreshments and self-guided tours.
The day culminated with a special fashion show, featuring vintage-inspired Jenny Packham gowns, which were handpicked by Catherine for the special occasion.

Loveliest of Afternoons: Jenny Packham, Tea and Great Company!
This past Friday we had the loveliest of afternoons... We hosted a tea party for our friends of the Merrick House committee featuring the spectacular Jenny Packham Bridal collection! This event was actually a warm up to the series “Sundays on the Porch with George” in which we will be participating in February. The series is a group of events throughout the fall and spring, that have themes, history, art, gardening and poetry. The purpose is to bring the community together and give awareness to the Merrick House Museum, gardens and its history.
We’re thrilled we were asked to participate in an event celebrating the marriage of George and Eunice Merrick, founders of Coral Gables. We will be showcasing Jenny Packham’s 2014 bridal collection at the event, as well as enjoy tea, tea sandwiches, a wedding cake contest and a string quartet playing waltzes in the afternoon. Stay tuned for more details as we get closer to the date! But truly, our "warm up" this past Friday was a treat! The lovely ladies of the committee were such great company! We also had the pleasure of having Amelia Gibson, executive director for Jenny Packham - North and South America, join us and tell us all about Jenny's collection. If you haven’t realized, at Chic Parisien we HEART Jenny Packham Bridal! We adore her bridal collections… The details, the silhouettes, the Hollywood glamour, the styling, it’s all so fashion forward and stunning! So in light of our upcoming June 14 - June 15 Jenny Packham Bridal Trunk Show, we were fortunate enough that she answered some questions we asked her! Here is what she had to say:
What is the inspiration for Jenny Packham 2013 Bridal Collection? The collection is inspired by the leading ladies of the golden ages of cinema. It is romantic and feminine and fuses the glamour of old Hollywood icons, Vivien Leigh and Bette Davis, with the vintage style of 1930’s Paris. For the Show, I was inspired by the idea of a 1930’s English country garden wedding with Cecil Beaton taking the photographs. I was inspired by the idea of debutantes of that era. The collection reflects this aristocratic English style with a fresh, floral and contemporary detail.
What is your favorite piece from this collection? I love Azalea. It’s a beautifully soft piece but the volume of the skirt and the addition of the tulle draping on the top lends a real luxuriousness and elegance to the look.
What fabrics have you used for this collection? For 2013 I’ve used a lot of silk chiffon. Unlike previous seasons, I haven’t used so much satin. It’s a lighter aesthetic for 2013- tulles, chiffons and delicate tone-on-tone beading define the collection.
You dress many A-list stars on the red carpet. Is there a connection between the red carpet and bridal wear? I think for many brides their wedding day is their real life red carpet moment! Increasingly Brides want something beautiful and fashion forward and they look to celebrities on the red carpet for inspiration. I often get inspiration from my evening wear creations and adapt them for the bridal market but it’s also important to remember that bridal styles have to have longevity – they can’t be too trend led.
What new trends do you see emerging in Bridal fashion 2013? More Brides are looking for gowns with sleeves which wasn’t the case a few years ago. We’ve seen a demand for high necklines and an overall more demure and sophisticated look.

Boy, do we have a lovely treat today… A Real Chic wedding direct from Buenos Aires, Argentina! A city know for its passionate tango, amazing food and gorgeous people… This real wedding captures exactly that spirit! The bride and groom wanted a relaxed affair that embodied their personalities: full of life, non-traditional and fun! Cecilia chose a stunning, Gatsby inspired Jenny Packham wedding gown! She looked gorgeous! They celebrated with their close family and friends into the wee hours of the night, but the lovely couple’s favorite part of the evening? “their wedding vows during the church ceremony!”

How was your weekend? We hope it was as great as ours. As many of you know, we've been in NYC attending Bridal Market. This is the official event where all the top bridal fashion designers showcase their latest collections! We have been witnessing Spring 2014 collections unveil and sashay down the runways! So far the collections this year have been absolutely AMAZING! We have seen everything from exquisite detailed lace, to minimalistic modern couture styles, to Great Gatsby inspirations, to dramatic gowns fit for a queen. What we've loved most is how everything is absolutely BREATHTAKING, one gasp after another! Inspiration Monday!
Happy Monday! We’ve had such a busy yet fantastic weekend! We had an amazing multi-designer trunk show that was all around gorgeous! We also worked with Randy Fenoli for his show, Randy to the Rescue… It was a blast!

Happy Fashion Friday!
Happy Friday! Happy Fashion Friday! We just came back from Fashion Week, and as you can imagine, it was an amazing experience! We’ve been to NYC Fashion Week a number of times, but truly, it never gets old! There was so much inspiration and creativity… And of course, beautiful fashion!
Our heart skipped a beat when we witnessed Monique Lhuillier’s collection sashay down the runway! Her jewel tones and use of this year’s official color, emerald green, was truly breathtaking! And her RED jeweled gown: A-Ma-Zing!
Jenny Packham’s collection was also gorgeous! It was decadent, intricate and the details are just impeccable! Definitely, a collection fit for any princess! Finally, Carmen Marc Valvo, was another favorite! The collection was simply stunning... The fit of the dresses, the details of the fabrics - OMG!

New Wedding Trend Alert: Short!
In the last few years, we have witnessed one trend make a comeback: short wedding dresses! Back in the 50s and 60s this was a popular trend with brides and recently we have seen it reappear with brides who are looking for something unique, unexpected, gorgeous yet more relaxed in its nature but still very chic! It works perfectly for outdoor weddings, beach weddings, and chic city hall weddings, among others!
However, what’s exciting is that we have seen this trend also embraced by more "traditional" brides that are looking to change into a reception dress. To wear not only one gorgeous gown during the ceremony, but also a second, short gown, during the magical evening! Finally, many brides who wish to extend their wedding events by wearing a short wedding dress for their rehearsal dinner is also becoming popular!
In essence, it does not matter why the bride chooses short, what is certain is that it is definitely a great way for a bride to make a fashion statement yet keep it fun, young, flirty and still very chic!
